Henry Gristock was the blacksmith until 1924. The building was sold at the 1921 Ilchester sale and bought by Charles Weech, who sold it to John Seal who wanted to live in the building.

The Old Tavern formerly The Hare and Hounds
One of 3 pubs in Castlebrook, it closed in the 1960’s. It was a tea rooms for a short while before becoming a private dwelling

Brook End Castlebrook 1937 Violet Studeley in doorway
Government grant of £200 was used to rebuild Brook End – the only house in the village to take the grant. It was rebuilt on the same footprint

At one time a Post Office ran next to the Castlebrook Inn. On the right, the thatched building is Brook End and beyond it the old Fox and Hounds

The Fox and Hounds Castlebrook C1900
Opened in 1841 and closed in 1910. Robert, his daughter Emily and grandson Frank were all the publicans.
